Silvana Peres

Born in Lisbon on April 21, 1987, but a lifelong resident of Cascais, Silvana Peres first became involved with fado at the age of fourteen. At twenty-one, she began her professional career as a resident fado singer at some of Lisbon’s most prestigious fado houses, such as Casa de Linhares and Parreirinha de Alfama, among others.

A singer, songwriter, and producer whose career has been marked by authenticity and social commitment, Silvana Peres has been a member of the resident cast at Clube de Fado in Alfama since 2022. Her musical influences span various genres, which is reflected in a unique sound and an artistic fusion that sets her apart.

In 2017, Silvana Peres released her debut album, “Fado no Pé,” which Blitz Magazine named one of the ten best World Music albums released in Portugal. Over the next three years, the fado singer took her “Fado no Pé” to various stages both in Portugal and abroad.

In 2022, she gave free rein to an increasingly bold creative spirit that is deeply rooted in her music. She released “Água Nova,” a new album in which the artist takes even greater risks by composing some of the original tracks herself. She is joined by renowned composers and songwriters, such as Dino d’Santiago, Paulo Abreu Lima, Raquel Tavares, Sebastião Antunes, Jonas Lopes, Beatriz Pessoa, João Caetano, and Carlos Leitão, among others.

In 2025, on International Human Rights Day—celebrated annually on December 10 since 1950 by a United Nations resolution—Silvana Peres has chosen this date to release the single “Violência,” with lyrics and music by Marina Mota. For this track, she invited thirteen fado singers from different generations—Ana Margarida Prado, Ana Rita Prada, Beatriz Felício, Cristina Branco, Joana Amendoeira, Lina, Maria Emília, Marina Mota, Marta Rosa, Matilde Cid, Sandra Correia, Sara Paixão, and Sofia Ramos—to participate in an intense and emotional collaboration, uniting different artistic voices into one. The song “Violência” serves as an anthem against all forms of violence and a tribute to all victims, amplifying a message of resistance, courage, and female solidarity. This single also heralds the release of her third album, “A Todas as Mulheres.”

In early 2026, Silvana Peres was selected—through an open song submission process—to be one of the participants in the 2026 Song Festival with the song “Não Tem Fim,” featuring lyrics and music by Rita Dias; she became a finalist and placed sixth.

In June 2026, she released her third album: “A Todas as Mulheres.” This album marks an important turning point in the artist’s career, as she presents, for the first time, a record entirely dedicated to traditional fado.

Deliberately distancing herself from more conservative narratives, Silvana Peres takes the stage to sing about today’s society and transform fado into a manifesto for social intervention and the promotion of human rights. Through a repertoire that blends traditional fados with original compositions, she (re)affirms art’s contribution to social transformation, promotes equality, deconstructs stereotypes, raises public awareness of issues related to domestic violence and violence against women, and highlights women’s artistic creation — since the entire album’s repertoire was written by Portuguese women songwriters from various generations — and calls on everyone to play a more active role in promoting citizenship.
